The FBR Motorsports COT Series hit the tricky triangle in Pocono this Saturday where all drivers were looking to stop the dominance of Kory Williams in his #18 Z-Line Toyota.. It didn't start well for the rest of the field as Kory took the pole and would lead the field to green..A few early cautions mixed the field slightly, putting several drivers on different strategies for fuel and tires.. Jaime Huppert, driver of the #78 nVidia Toyota, was forced to retire on lap 2 with an apparent engine failure.. The early incidents of the race would claim Mike Norris in the #20 Home Depot Toyota and Kyle Millikin in the #83 Unsponsored Toyota.. Soon to follow would be the #14 Old Spice Chevy of Mike Born, who retired with suspension failure on lap 55.. Jason Lyman, driver of the #85 Tide Toyota, was forced to retire on lap 63 with a mechanical issue, most likely from an earlier spin when the #21 Five Guys Pizza Ford of Steve Fawley made contact with Lyman's car entering turn 2.. Fawley would soldier on for an 8th place finish.. Early front-runner Wren Musick suffered damage after contact with the tunnel turn wall that would hamper him the remainder of the race, and a much needed yellow flag late in the race never materialized to help him get back on the lead lap and back into contention for the win.. He would have to settle for a 9th place finish.. After the caution on lap 55 brought out by Mike Born's suspension failure, the field set up for a 25 lap dash to the checkers, with Kory Williams, Matty Watkins in the #03 Vault Chevy, and Butch Davis in the #43 Insignia Ford pulling away from the field.. Another early front-runner and race leader, Jason Fuchs in the #19 MOPAR Dodge fell out of the lead pack and into the clutches of Hal Moore in the #9 Budweiser Ford.. Those two would battle over the final 25 laps with Fuchs coming out on top in 4th place, just a tenth of a second ahead of Moore.. Jerry Huffman in the #25 GoDaddy.com Chevy, who led 3 laps early in the race and had been in the lead pack most of the way, held off the late charge of Mike Morris in the #05 Marlboro Menthol Chevy to take 6th place.. As the final laps wound down, the battle between the top 3 would heat up with the lead swapping several times between Williams, Watkins, and Davis.. Going into the final lap, Davis held the lead at the line with Williams making a move to the inside.. Williams was able to skate by Davis in the middle of turn 1 on the bottom, but Davis' momentum on the top side allowed him to move back under the #18 heading down the straight and into turn 2.. As Davis moved low under Williams, both drivers moved left as Williams attempted to block the #43, with the #43 briefly putting two tires in the grass.. As the two entered turn 2 side-by-side, Matty Watkins laid back to get a run out of the corner.. Davis packed the car in hard into turn 2 and was able to hold the low line, keeping Williams behind him.. The loss of momentum by Williams allowed Watkins an opportunity to make a move to the inside, but he was unable to make the pass.. Williams' concentration on the #03 brought about an unusual error by the #18, with Williams getting loose on the entry of turn 3.. Davis, being a little too cautious after what has arguably been a horrible season so far for the #43, almost slowed too much in turn 3 and the #18 was forced to back off of the throttle to avoid contact.. This, along with Williams' slight slide, allowed the #03 of Watkins to get alongside the #18 down the front-straight heading to the checkers.. Davis moved low coming to the line to break any draft attempts, and the #18 and #03 made brief contact as they crossed the line..

The victory is Davis' second of the season, ending the longest dry spell of his career.. Williams' second place finish paired with Moore's fifth place finish extends the lead of the #18 driver to 335 points at this point of the season.. Matty Watkins' 3rd place finish keeps him 3rd in points, 680 back, while Davis' win brings him a little closer, now 791 points back.. The COT series heads to Michigan next week where high speeds and a wide track with multiple racing grooves should provide a lot of side-by-side racing and numerous passes..
